Participatory Assessment Year 2: Vito Elementary School

Project YUNIT by Children of Asia Philippines concludes its second year of Participatory Assessment at Vito Elementary School (VES) in Brgy. Vito, Minglanilla, Cebu Province last April 14, 2023. It was attended by members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and Supreme Pupil Government (SPG) of the said school.

The Child Rights Approach was introduced to the audience by answering a survey about their knowledge of the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), and showing of a series of video presentation of the UNCRC. Next was a series of video training on Gender Sensitivity and PWD Inclusion. Later, the PTA presented their financial reports and current budget. In the afternoon session, the attendees created their Gender Sensitive Action Plan which consists of objectives to take action all the concerns and issues of the PTA and SPG. Furthermore, they were then asked to vote for their respective Focal Persons for the three thematics under Project YUNIT, namely ICT, Awareness, and Livelihood.

Finally, the attendees were then presented the IGA Plan, in which changes were made from the PTA’s first proposed livelihood project, and was changed into another project called “Piso at Plastic para sa Power,” a campaign to address the power situation at the school.

The Project YUNIT team, with the support of the VES students, faculty, staff, and parents, were able to make the Participatory Assessment a success.
