Culmination of Computer Systems Services NC II Pilot Training at Mabolo National High School

Project YUNIT has recently concluded its first batch of Computer Systems Services NC II (CSS NC II) hands-on training to select faculty members of Mabolo National High School (MNHS) and Zapatera Elementary School (ZES) last July 11-15, 2022 at the Mabolo National High School, Brgy. Mabolo, Cebu City.

The training is in-line with Project YUNIT’s objectives of enabling ICT skills to its beneficiary teachers to empower them in the educational continuity of the 9 partner schools of Children of Asia Philippines. Prior to the hands-on training, the teachers had prior online training through the TESDA Online Program (TOP) for CSS NC II last March 2022, and received their TOP certificate for the qualification upon finishing the online course.

The hands-on training that followed was aimed to prepare these select teachers for the actual TESDA Assessment in order to receive the National Certificate in Computer Systems Services NC II. The training focused on the core competencies of the qualification: Install and configure computer systems; Set-up Computer Networks; Set-up Computer Servers; Maintain and Repair Computer Systems and Networks. They were able to handle actual hardware and software that are expected to be used during the actual assessment session by TESDA, such as computer motherboards, power supply, network equipment, operating system installation media, and application software, among many others. Mr. Vincent Gonzales, IT Admin and Support of Project YUNIT, headed the training sessions, with the assistance of another IT staff, Mr. Joshua Cabaltera.

The teachers in MNHS and ZES who completed the hands-on training are expected to undergo their TESDA assessment later in the year. Meanwhile, another set is also expected in the coming weeks with another set of faculty from the partner schools of Project YUNIT to undergo hands-on training.
