Children of Asia Philippines through its Project YUNIT team provided IT professional services to its partner schools in Cebu City, in support of the Department of Education’s Brigada Eskwela program. The Brigada Eskwela program is an annual nationwide campaign to prepare all DepEd schools for the upcoming school year. For the school year 2022-2023, Brigada Eskwela launched with the theme “Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral” (Responding to the Challenge of Safe Return to School) and will run from August 1 to August 26, 2022. This year’s campaign highlights the country’s collective efforts from various partnership engagements, creating a safe learning environment for the learners, teaching and non-teaching personnel, and community to achieve safety while ensuring the delivery of quality education.
Project YUNIT will focus at this time to providing IT professional services to its partner schools in Cebu City, namely: Barrio Luz National High School, Mabolo Elementary School, Mabolo National High School, and Zapatera Elementary School.
The first leg of Brigada Eskwela activities was held at the Zapatera Elementary School from August 1-3, 2022. The team’s focus was to refurbish and reconfigure computer units at the school’s computer laboratory. A set of activities were conducted for each school’s computer laboratory:
- Technical Assessment and Advising
- Maintenance of Computer Labs / Thin Client / Cleaning
- Server / Client Setups – Reformatting
- Printer Maintenance and Sharing
- Wired Networking
- Re-configuring / Securing Wireless Network
- System Imaging and Cloning
- Installation of Open-source learning applications
The IT team of Project YUNIT, headed by IT Director and Project YUNIT Manager, Mr. Allan Christian Obispo, conducted the above-mentioned tasks which heleped the school prepare its computer laboratory conduct its delivery of ICT-based learning to its learners for the incoming school year.
The next leg of Brigada Eskwela activities for Project YUNIT will be held at Mabolo National High School on August 4, 5, and 8, 2022.
